Station #3 Dedication

On Sunday, September 22, 2002, New Melle FPD dedicated its Station House #3 located at the Lake Sherwood development, approximately ¼ mile down Borgman Rd. off Highway T.

The facility had previously housed fire apparatus for the Lake Sherwood Volunteer Fire Department before Lake Sherwood coverage was assumed by New Melle FPD. The building has been both enlarged and renovated.

The dedication activities started at 1:00 p.m. and concluded at 4:00 p.m., with the actual dedication ceremony occurring at 2:00 p.m.  The ceremony was conducted by Mike Moore, President of the Board of Directors, New Melle FPD.  Flag raising was performed by VFW Post 5651 of New Melle.  The station was officially dedicated to the residents of Lake Sherwood Estates; Hugo and Oriana Grimm accepted the dedication plaque in behalf of the Lake Sherwood residents.  Bill Foley and Larry Gassei accepted a special award in appreciation of donations of miscellaneous furniture and a television provided by them and other individuals.

nm3arch.jpg (36266 bytes)Included in attendance were New Melle FPD officers and firefighters, representatives from the  Warren County Sheriff’s Department, St. Charles County Ambulance District, Washington, Missouri Fire Department, AIR-EVAC, Arch, local clergy, and various guests and residents from the New Melle Fire Protection District.

Residents were able to witness the dedication ceremony, enjoy the displays, and meet with the New Melle FPD officers and firefighters that serve them.  The New Melle FPD Auxiliary served light refreshments following the dedication ceremony.
